Lord,
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The wisdom to change the things that I can,
and the courage to know the difference.
                                                                      Amen.

I am trying to take some deep breaths and calm myself down right now. Joe's sister has decided that instead of getting this piano tomorrow morning, she is making Joe go and get it on Wednesday! We were supposed to put our parent gifts together that morning and he was going to move in too. Instead, I am going to be making our parent gifts completely by myself. It requires a lot of technology and I don't think I am capable. I am so angry right now!

When he called he also told me they have 4 ft. snow drifts through his driveway and down his gravel road. Unless the snow stops blowing, he said he won't be able to come over to my house for Christmas tomorrow. I will be absolutely devastated if he isn't there for my family Christmas. Joe truly is my family now and it wouldn't feel right. I pray that it stops blowing and they are able to get plowed out. Living in Iowa stinks for so many reasons!

I need to go back to grading papers. I can't believe the week before my wedding I am sitting and grading 60 writing papers. I am getting very annoyed by this data-driven world! Sorry for my anger!

In the stress of my final week of wedding cramming...my soon to be sister-in-law decided to make me even more stressed. Last night, I was on my way out the door to church, when she gives me a call. She went to church earlier and decided that she doesn't think we have a good enough piano there for her to sing with. She wants us to drive down to Iowa City this week and pick up some couple thousand dollar keyboard and sound system from Katie's school and bring it here. Ha! I almost started laughing when she said that. I told her there was no way Joe and I were going to be able to take a day off this week and drive down to I.C. Plus, I told her she needs to find someone who is willing to put the sound system up and take it down on Saturday, because Joe was not going to be the one to do it like he normally does at family functions. I'm sure she will find a way to get it here, but it just made me upset. Our church piano is not that bad, and I don't care if it's not perfect. I do want her to be comfortable though and if that means that she doesn't mind driving to Iowa City then I don't care if she changes the piano.

Things are really starting to come together...although I have had a couple of traumatic breakdowns this past week. On Friday morning I got a frantic call from my Mom. Our computer at home got some viruses and crashed!! The computer had all of the guest addresses for thank you notes and OUR PROGRAM!!! Keep in mind we haven't printed it yet either. I put in over 10 hours creating our program and it was gone! We were stupid and had no back-ups of anything. My Mom and I spent all day yesterday redesigning it on my sister's laptop, and it is finally done. We are going to get it copied as soon as this stupid snowstorm blows through!

I have been making the final phone calls over the past couple of days. I was presently surprised when I called our videographer/DJ. He said that he is going to meet us at the reception hall Friday morning, set up, and do a bunch of testing so I can get everything just the way I like it. Then, he is coming back and he is going to be doing some videotaping at our rehearsal for no extra charge! I had no idea he came to the rehearsal, but it made me very happy!

13 more days!!!!

Tuesday, November 27, 2007

Agh! I am soooo stressed! 31 MORE DAYS! What the heck was I thinking cramming Joe's graduation, Christmas, a new job, and our wedding all into one month!

I realized tonight that our paperwork for our photographer was due 2 months ago! Ouch! It is the checklist of all of the professional photos we want taken. I have been spending the evening on the phone trying to please my parents, Joe's Mom, and Joe and I and get the pics we all want...problem is Joe is being a pain. He is stressed out with final projects and doesn't have time to talk. On top of that, all of our DJ information is due this week. We haven't figured out our first dance song or the mother/son dance song. We have our song narrowed to 2, but we need some time together to sit and listen to them. Again, Joe is so busy with finals that he doesn't even know if he is coming home this weekend.

My Mom and I met with our reception hall coordinator this evening. We did a walk through and figured out where we are going to put everything. We also discussed what types of tables we wanted and other itsy bitsy details.

We have about 100 of 200 RSVPs back. Everyone has about a week left to RSVP and I need to know soon. It is very frustrating. Why can't people write a simple number on a card and put it in the mailbox?!? Sorry, I am a little bitter. lol.

I have put wedding planning off for so long, and now it's almost here. We still haven't finalized our menu, figured out cake details, and we have a couple of jobs we still need filled.

In happier news, Joe and I keep getting closer and closer through it all. We have done the distance thing for 4.5 years and in 16 days it will be over for good! We couldn't be more excited!

Work has been a major stressor lately. I have been having difficulties with a set of parents. My principal has been supporting me 100 percent though. Today he told me I was doing well. I almost broke down and cried because I never knew what he thought of me. I was glad to hear that he thought I was doing okay.

I need to get some work done. I have been wedding planning all night and haven't even thought about my Teacher Leadership Team homework I have due tomorrow. Bla!

Ekk I am so excited! Joe booked our honeymoon this afternoon. We are going to the Couples All-Inclusive Resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica!!! The place is absolutely amazing; I can't stop looking at the pictures!

We are flying out of Des Moines at 7am Sunday, Dec 30th. We are supposed to get to Montego Bay around 2 o'clock Sunday, and then we have a 3 hour bus ride to Ocho Rios. I was told the bus ride is crazy, but you get to see a lot of the island which is neat. Because we are on our honeymoon, we receive a bottle of champagne and a 30 minute couples massage.  He booked us a superior-ocean view room. Also included in our package is a trip to Dunn River Falls, scuba diving, a glass bottom boat ride, catamaran cruise, trip to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville,  reef snorkeling, and all that good water sports stuff. We also get breakfast in bed every morning. Joe and I are also going on a zip-line tour excursion. I have always wanted to do that, so I am soooo excited!

If you can't tell I can hardly contain myself. lol. I have never flown, seen an ocean, or even left the United States. In a matter of a couple hours I will do all of those things.

Here are some pictures...

View from the beach. Supposedly that is the nudey island in the distance...eww!

Overall, the other wedding plans are slowly coming. I am going home tonight after church to make the maps with my Mom. We are going to send out invitations next week. Goodness it's getting close...soo much to do!
